Maruti Suzuki will officially launch the new-gen Ertiga MPV in India on November 21, 2018. Interested buyers can pre-book the new model by paying an initial sum of Rs 11,000. Production of the new Ertiga has also been started. Ahead of the launch, mileage figures and variant details of the MPV has been revealed on the internet. The MPV will be available with two engine options - tried & tested 1.3-litre MJD diesel and an all-new 1.5-litre K15B petrol. Both engines will be benefitted with Suzuki's SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle By Suzuki) mild-hybrid system.

Thanks to the SHVS mild-hybrid technology, the new Maruti Ertiga becomes more fuel efficient than the previous model. The petrol version will receive this technology for the first time, featuring a dual-battery setup from the new Ciaz. While the lead-acid battery will power the vehicle and the idle start-stop tech, the additional lithium-ion battery will take care of the torque assist. The lithium-ion battery is located under the front passenger seat. However, the diesel Ertiga will be offered with a single-battery setup for the SHVS system.

The new Maruti Ertiga petrol is claimed to return an ARAI certified fuel economy of 19.34kmpl for the manual and 18.69 kmpl for the automatic version. Compared to the previous model that returns 17.50kmpl for the manual and 17.03kmpl for the automatic, the new model receives a significant rise of around 1.80kmpl in manual and 1.66kmpl in automatic. The new Ertiga diesel is also receive a significant rise in fuel economy. It now returns an ARAI certified fuel economy of 25.47kmpl from the 24.52kmpl in the previous model.

The new-gen Maruti Ertiga is built on the new-gen Suzuki Heartect platform, which also underpins the Swift twins. The new model is around 10-20kgs lighter than the previous model, which also helps the MPV to achieve higher fuel economy figures. The new-gen Maruti Ertiga will be offered in 4 trim levels - L, V, Z and Z+ - in petrol and diesel guise. A total of 10 variants will be on offer with two engine and two gearbox options. Safety features like dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, ISOFIX child safety, central locking and others will come as standard. The new Maruti Ertiga will be retailed through Maruti's ARENA showrooms.
