India's largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki is planning to launch a range of new cars in the country in the next 1-2 years. The company will soon introduce the new-generation Wagon R, which will be followed by Baleno facelift, Swift RS and a micro SUV based on the Future S Concept. Maruti has confirmed that the new-gen Wagon R tall-boy hatchback will go on sale in January 2019. If latest media report is to be believed, the next-gen 2019 Maruti Wagon R will go on sale in India on 23rd January 2019. However, the official launch date from Maruti is yet to be revealed.

The third-generation of the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R continues with the tall-boy design, though it looks completely different from the outgoing model. The new model comes with more edgier design and urbane styling. With all-new styling, the new Wagon R will directly rival the recently launched new Hyundai Santro.

The all-new Maruti WagonR comes equipped with a shorter bonnet, blacked-out B-pillar, body-coloured C-pillar with a black garnish and vertical tail-lamps. The hatchback looks a lot modern and upmarket than the outgoing model. The spy images suggest that the all-new WagonR will share design cues from the new WagonR on sale in the Japanese market. What's interesting is that the new model looks slightly larger than the previous model, which should translate into more cabin space.

The 2019 Maruti Suzuki Wagon R tall-boy hatchback comes with a completely new interior. It comes with several new comfort, convenience and safety features. The top-spec model is likely to receive a touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. For passengers’ safety and security, the tall-boy hatch will come with dual front airbags, ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic BrakeForce Distribution), rear parking sensors and seat belt reminder as standard. In fact, the top-spec model could also come equipped with rear parking camera.

It was speculated that the next-generation Maruti Wagon R will be based on the new Suzuki's HEARTECT platform. However, latest media report claims that the new model will use the upgraded version of the existing model. The hatchback will be powered by the existing 1.0-litre K10B petrol engine that produces 67bhp of power and 90Nm of torque. The vehicle will also receive factory-fitted CNG version. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed automated manual transmission.
