Honda India has recalled the all new Honda Amaze over a potential issue with the electric power steering. Around 7,290 units of new Amaze manufactured between April 17 and May 24, 2018 have been affected by the recall. According to Honda, the issue with the power steering could cause the steering to feel heavy and cause the EPS indicator light to blink. As a part of the recall, the faulty power steering will be replaced in the affected vehicles after inspecting the EPS sensor harness. The inspection and replacement will be done free of cost.
2018 Honda Jazz Facelift Launched At Rs 7.35 lakh
Honda will notify owners of the affected Amaze starting July 26, 2018 and the replacement process will be conducted at the authorized Honda dealerships across the country. Those who want to check if their vehicle has been impacted can simply put the car’s 17 digit character alpha-numeric Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on a microsite that can be accessed through Honda India’s official website.
The second-generation Honda Amaze was launched in India this May at an introductory price of Rs 5.59 lakh applicable for the first 20,000 customers of the car. Changes on the new Amaze include copious styling tweaks such as daytime running lights, 15-inch alloy wheels, etc. that come with the fully-loaded top-spec variant.
On the inside, the new Honda Amaze packs a larger 7-inch touchscreen Digipad infotainment system supported by Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The revised feature list includes a start-stop button, automatic climate control, paddle shifters for the automatic version, rear AC vents and a fold-down central armrest. Besides, there has been an increase in the wheelbase which carves out more space for the occupants.
Under the hood, the new Amaze gets Honda’s 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally aspirated engine with 89 bhp of maximum power and 110 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties are carried out by the conventional 5-speed manual unit and a 7-step CVT automatic unit. Honda also launched updated Jazz and is planning to launch seven-seat CR-V in India sometime this year.
