According to a report published in Economic Times, Honda is planning to launch the all-new Jazz premium hatchback in India on 8th July, 2015. Honda recently released a teaser image revealing that the Jazz launch will take place in July, though no official date was mentioned. Honda will manufacture the Jazz at the company's Tapukara facility in Rajasthan.
On the design front, the Honda Jazz has always been one the most spacious hatchbacks in the country. The same will be carried forward in the new Jazz but with aggressive design. On the interiors, the Jazz will receive a dashboard similar to that of City with features like the touchscreen infotainment system, steering mounted controls and safety features like the ABS, EBD and ABS.
The Honda Jazz will come with both the petrol as well as the diesel engine options. The diesel engine will be powered the 1.5-litre i-DTEC unit that also powers the Amaze, Mobilio and City. On the other hand, the petrol unit will be a 1.2-litre four cylinder i-VTEC unit that powers the Brio and the Amaze. Though Honda will add a CVT transmission with 5-speed manual gearbox.
Initially, when Honda launched the Jazz first in the country way back in 2009, they decided a price range upwards of Rs 7 Lakhs. Apparently our country was not in that advanced stage to accept hatchbacks above Rs 7 Lakhs and eventually Honda had to bring down the cost by Rs 1.5 Lakhs. Honda Jazz was retailing at a price of Rs 5.5 Lakh before was taken off the production ramp.
Considering the maturity our markets have shown for the premium and luxury hatchbacks, Honda will try to keep the price right this time. One can expect a range from Rs 5.5 Lakhs to Rs 7 Lakhs. Once launched, the new Jazz will take on the cars like the Hyundai Elite i20 and the Maruti Suzuki Swift.
