The updated i20 Elite has paid rich dividends to the company as it has registered around 40,000 bookings, ever since its much anticipated launch which took place around two months back. The Hyundai Elite i20 was officially launched on August 11, while the advance bookings commenced from August 1. The company went on record to reveal that the hatchback has received 15,300 bookings and 79,200 inquiries in just 20 days of its launch in the country.

Hyundai Elite i20 is advanced, up-market and striking than its predecessor in terms of appearance, interior and dimensions. Being based on an all-new platform, the Elite i20 has enhanced wheelbase than the previous generation i20. The monthly sales report of August and September revealed that Hyundai delivered 6,627 and 8,903 units of Elite i20, respectively. However, these numbers are fairly high as compared with those of previous generation i20 as it used to sell around 3500-4000 units monthly on an average. On the other hand, the Elite i20, despite these spectacular sales figures, lags behind by a long margin to its arch rival Maruti Suzuki Swift as the Swift sold 17,716 and 17,265 units in August and September, respectively. And, these sales figures are expected to rise even more as Maruti has introduced the updated Swift hatchback, recently with more up-market features and aggressive styling.

Hyundai Elite i20 was launched in price range of Rs. 4.89-7.67 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Delhi) which is around Rs. 40,000-50,000 more than that of new Swift's (4.42-6.95 Lakhs) price. Hence, despite being rich in features but due to a bit overpriced, the majority of buyers drift towards the Maruti nut. But, the aforementioned sales numbers are also not low and believe it or not, it has propelled the company to introduce a crossover version of the hatchback around the first quarter of next year. The completely camouflaged test mules of the Elite i20 based crossover has already been spied several times in the country. The crossover is expected to boast an array of up-market and contemporary features such as LED daytime running lights, projector headlights, roof rails, body cladding and petal-shaped alloy wheels.
