Hyundai Motor Company, the South Korean multinational automotive manufacturer, is working on the new generation i20 model. Since 2014, Hyundai’s popular i20 hatchback is being sold worldwide and it will eventually receive an entirely new model revamp most likely in 2020. In the Indian market, Hyundai i20 rivals the Ford Fiesta hatchback, Honda Jazz and the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, wherein the i20 has an upper hand being an international model.
As published in Autocar UK, Hyundai Motors is also developing a performance-focussed N variant of the next-gen Hyundai i20 to rival the Ford Fiesta ST model in the international market.
Mechanically, the new i20 N will borrow specs from its bigger sibling, the i30 N, by sharing the chassis and modified engine to apparently deliver higher power in comparison with the standard i20 car. The new Hyundai sports offering will also come with the performance-oriented braking unit, an extra direct-ratio steering wheel setting and an appropriate lowering and stiffer suspension.
The latest Hyundai i20 N performance car is expected to be powered by a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol motor that can churn a staggering power output as high as 200 horsepower, apparently to make it several times powerful and robust compared to the standard Hyundai i20 car.
