Hyundai is all set to launch its latest offerings here in the Indian market. Hyundai will launch its i20 hatchback on August 11, 2014 in New Delhi. The car is already available for bookings across dealerships in India from August 1, 2014.
The Hyundai i20 will be a global launch and the car will be unveiled at the Paris Motor show for the European markets only after a couple of months. The new i20 will have an ‘Elite’ pre-fix given to it, just like in the case of the i10 and Grand i10. However, do not expect the new car to be sold alongside the older one, Hyundai sources have confirmed that the current i20 will be discontinued altogether after the Elite goes on sale next week. Although the new Elite i20 will come with a stunning and fresh design, the engine range will be the same as the current car with minor tweaks to the engine mapping for improved refinement and efficiency.
This means, the 1.4-litre diesel with 89bhp and the 1.2-litre petrol with 79bhp will continue in the new i20. Also on offer will be the 1.4-litre petrol engine with 99bhp and will come with an automatic gearbox. Prices are expected to go up marginally since Hyundai wants to take the i20 brand more premium and we expect them to range from Rs 5.50 lakh upto Rs 8 lakh(ex-showroom).
