Hyundai India is all set to foray into the MPV segment by introducing an-all new vehicle in the country in 2017. Now, an ET report claims that the newly-developed MPV is being codenamed as 'IP' and would hit the Indian roads in 2017. It is also being said that the new Hyundai MPV would be based on the Hexaspace concept and would target private buyers.
The new MPV would be offered in both petrol and diesel guises with manual transmission as standard, while an automatic gearbox could also be offered. It would rival the Honda Mobilio, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Renault Lodgy. As per a report, the UV segment has 21 percent of share of the overall market, and Hyundai still doesn't have any presence in it. The company sells only the Santa Fe premium SUV in the country in the aforesaid segment as it pulled the plug off its Tuscan SUV a couple of years back. However, before the launch of this much talked-about MPV, the South-Korean automajor would launch the ix25 compact SUV in the country in the festive season this year.
Our friends at IAB have made a rendering of the upcoming Hyundai MPV based on the Hexaspace concept. It is said that the company has quite aggressive plans for India and the pricing of new MPV would be highly competitive due to around 90 percent of localization. New Hyundai MPV could be launched in a price bracket of Rs. 7-11 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom) with several contemporary and up-market features.
