Land Rover has taken the wraps off its new Discovery Sport - a versatile premium compact SUV and first member of the new Discovery vehicle family - prior to its debut at the 2014 LA Motor Show on November 19. The new Land Rover Discovery Sport would grace the company's stands at this prestigious event alongside several other premium models such as Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Evoque and Land Rover LR4.
The luxury British manufacturer has also revealed the engine, transmission and drivetrain for this keenly awaited SUV which goes on sale in several international markets including India. The US-spec model would be powered by a 2.0L, 4-cylinder turbocharged engine which would generate a maximum power output of 240 bhp, while mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. It would disburse the power evenly to all the four wheels of this compact SUV. The company has stated that the pricing for 2015 Discovery Sport would start from $37995 (Around Rs. 23.47 Lakhs). In India, it would be replacing the Freelander 2 and more importantly, it would be offered with an optional seven-passenger seating in a "5+2" configuration. The SUV would boast dynamic features in form of Autonomous Emergency Braking and a new touch-screen infotainment system.
Land Rover has announced to open the Land Rover Experience L.A Centre which will give consumers an engaging immersion into the Land Rover brand including its Land Rover Adventures program, latest vehicles, brand partnerships and merchandise. "Creating this unique experience in the L.A. area gives our current and future customers an opportunity to learn more about the Land Rover brand and test the all-terrain capability of our SUVs all without leaving the city," said Kim McCullough, Vice President of Marketing, Jaguar Land Rover North America. "This Land Rover Experience also gives L.A. customers a chance to preview the newest Land Rover SUV, the Discovery Sport, months before it goes on sale next year."
