Mahindra & Mahindra, the homegrown automajor, has been testing the Bolero Facelift, codenamed as U301, for quite some time now in the country. This time our friends at Motor Vikatan have successfully captured the interiors of the New Bolero which was heavily camouflaged on the streets of Chennai. Basking high in the success of New Scorpio, the company is expected to launch the Bolero facelift in and around the first quarter of 2015.
Going by the spy-shots we have, the interior cabin of upcoming Bolero SUV appears much advanced and up-market than the current generation of the SUV. The dashboard appears heavily clad, while it boasts a new 3-spoke steering wheel. In addition, there are rectangular A/C vents with a contemporary centre console and infotainment system. At the outside, the captured test mule of the SUV has a boxy design with no curves whatsoever. It has 5 doors and a tail-gate mounted external spare wheel. Quite similar to the next gen Scorpio, it would be also offered with an all-new ladder-frame chassis and come in multiple body lengths. It is also being widely speculated that Mahindra wouldn't phase out the current generation Bolero and the two could be sold together. Needless to say, the new Bolero would be comprised with impeccable off-roading features.
Talking about the powertrains, Mahindra Bolero facelift would be available with a 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine. However, possibilities of a petrol motor on offer along with the diesel one can't be discarded blatantly. As per the company vision, it intends to launch 3 compact SUVs in the next 2 years in order to facilitate a buyer by providing an option of a SUV at Rs. 50,000-75,000 price points over the entry-level vehicle.
