Mahindra & Mahindra, the homegrown automajor, launched the new Scorpio around 20 days back on September 25, 2014 which also coincided with the inception of Navratra. According to new nomenclature, it was offered with 6 six trims - S2, S4, S6, S6 Plus, S8 and S10. Now, if an ACI report is to believed, then the top-of-the-range S10 variant with 2WD is the most sought after variant in the entire range.

Mahindra's wise strategy of building at least 5000 units of the SUV, even before its launch has worked well in its favor as there is almost minimal waiting period on every variant. Even, the most loved S10 variant has a general waiting period of around 4-6 weeks, which is just exceptional. However, the S10 variant with 4WD has the longest waiting period of around 2 months as it is a made-to-order basis product. The company officials haven't disclosed the exact numbers on pre-orders of Scorpio but the dealers have revealed that they are witnessing increased footfall in the showrooms.

The next generation Mahindra Scorpio received several upgrades both inside and outside. In terms of appearance, it has nothing to do with its predecessor. It got new projector headlamps with daytime running LED lights. The bumper and grille were entirely new at the front fascia. New Scorpio also got an all new LED tail-lamp cluster with spoiler at the rear. Inside the cabin, it saw an all new steering wheel, sourced directly from the XUV 500. It had audio and phone controls mounted on it for convenience of the driver. Other exquisite features included a touchscreen infotainment system, a new instrument cluster and horizontally-stacked AC vents. However, mechanically, it was the same as the entry-level S2 variant was powered by 2.5-litre m2DICR engine which generates 75bhp of power and 200Nm of torque. Rest of the variants in-house a 2.2-litre mHawk motor which dishes out a maximum power of 120bhp and peak torque of 280Nm with an ARAI Certified mileage of 15.37kmpl.
