New Maruti Alto K10 with AMT unit has an ARAI certified mileage of 24.07kmpl, which makes it the most fuel economical automatic car in the country. Earlier, this title was held by Maruti's recently launched Celerio hatch with 23.1kmpl, but now it's Alto K10 all the way. The AMT unit comes with Auto Gear Shift (AGS) technology which subsequently results in a higher mileage of 24.07kmpl as compared to ongoing model's 20.92kmpl. The new hatch would also be offered in CNG guise and its fuel efficiency, claimed, in it is 32.26 km/kg. However, the engine remains the same in both these fuel trims. The Maruti Alto K10 facelift would in-house 1.0-liter three-cylinder K-Series engine which generates a power output of 67 bhp and 90 Nm of peak torque, also seen on the current K10 model.
Although, the new iteration of Alto K10 is based on Maruti 800's body but the company engineers have worked their heart out to distinguish it from the Alto 800 by introducing new headlamps, chrome grille, tweaked front and rear bumpers, new Celerio-esque tail-lamp cluster and an all-new windshield at the rear. Inside the cabin, it features an all-new interior with new 3-spoke steering wheel. In addition, comfort and convenience features such as front power windows, a 2-DIN music system with CD/MP3/Radio/AUX-in/USB, a tachometer, central locking, foglights, keyless entry and a driver airbag are expected to make their way on the top-end variant. The pricing of the new model of Alto K10 is not out yet, but we expect it to bbe priced in a domain of Rs. 3.2 - 4.1 Lakhs. It would be at loggerheads with Hyundai Eon and Datsun GO in the country.
