It will not be wrong to say, that the New Maruti Alto K10 is the world's cheapest Automatic car. After much of the speculations and guess games, Maruti has finally confirmed that they will launch the new K10 on the 3rd of Novemeber this year. Maruti will be launching both the manual and the AMT versions of the car and is expected to be priced at Rs 3.30 lakh for the manual version and Rs 3.80 lakh for the AMT version.
The new Alto K10 is truly new in many cases and the major being the complete design change. The design of the new Alto reminds us of the Alto 800, at least from the back, while the front gets a new headlight and bumper design. Although the radical change is on the inside, with the car getting a more upmarket materials. The triple tone black, grey and beige interiors give a roomy feeling, while the top model gets standard stereo and power windows.
The new Alto K10 will be powered by a 998cc 3-pot motor generating 67.1bhp power @ 6200rpm and 90Nm of torque @ 500rpm, the same K10 four cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine as in the outgoing version. Transmission duties will be done by a five speed manual unit and will deliver an ARAI certified mileage of 20.92 km/l. The new AMT will be similar to the one on the Celerio and the efficiency will be one notch up.
The manual version of the new K10 will compete against the recently added Hyundai Eon 1.0 litre version and the Datsun Go. The AMT version, though, doesn't have any direct competitor, with the nearest rival being the other cheapest AMT, Maruti Celerio.
