Maruti Suzuki had launched the second generation Ertiga MPV in November 2018. The vehicle is available in a single, 7-seater version; however, a new media report claims that a six-speed version of the new-generation Ertiga MPV will soon go on sale in the country. The new model will be the range-topping variant and will be introduced as a premium model. What's interesting is that the new Ertiga six-seater variant will be retailed through Nexa premium dealerships.
The biggest change in the six-seater Ertiga is the inclusion of captain seats in the middle row instead of bench seat for 3 adults. Premium MPVs including Mahindra Marazzo and Toyota Innova Crysta also comes with captain seats in middle row. The report further suggests that the new six-seater variant will receive more premium interior option. It is expected to receive faux leather upholstery instead of the fabric seats.
The new Suzuki Ertiga six-seater model will also receive the in-house developed 1.5-litre 4-cylinder diesel engine that will first debut in Maruti Ciaz. This engine will also power the other variants of the Ertiga and will replace the 1.3-litre DDis unit. The existing engine will not receive any update to meet the upcoming BS6 emission norms that come into effect in 2020. The new 4-cylinder diesel engine is reportedly offers 94bhp of power and 225Nm of torque. Power will be transmitted to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox. The six-seater Ertiga will also receive the new 1.5-litre petrol engine that is capable of producing 104bhp of power and 138Nm of torque.
