Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) dealers have started talking pre-orders for the all-new Swift at a token amount of Rs. 10,000. According to the dealers, the updated hatchback would be launched by the month end and believe it or not, the refreshed Swift has registered over 1000 bookings in Delhi alone, in a single day. A Maruti dealership in Delhi confirmed to us that Swift is getting an overwhelming response and revealed that it has received around 35 bookings as of now.
Maruti is all set for the launch with numerous demo vehicles being ready for a dispatch at the respective dealerships. The company intends to commence the deliveries of Swift facelift by the beginning of next month. The updated hatch features subtle cosmetic changes, albeit on top-end ZXi/ZDi variants. The tweaked front bumper now boasts silver L-shaped elements for the fog light enclosures. The pattern of the alloy wheels is redesigned and the top-of-the-range variants are also expected to flaunt chrome door handles. Inside the cabin, for the first time ever, the Swift hatchback would have a Engine Start/Stop button. The facelifted Swift would also be having steering-integrated Bluetooth controls, while a few reports suggesting that even the mid-level trims VXi/VDi would have an updated music system.
Mechanically, Maruti Swift facelift would be unchanged as it would be retaining the 1.2L K-Series petrol and 1.3L DDiS diesel motors. The 1.2L petrol motor, as earlier, would be churning out 86bhp of top power and 114Nm of peak torque. As for the diesel mill, the Fiat-sourced 1.3L engine would be generating a maximum power output of 75 bhp and peak torque performance of 190Nm. Both these engine would be mated to company's conventional 5-speed manual gearbox, while power being transmitted to the front wheels of the hatch.
New Maruti Swift, upon its arrival, would lock horns with Hyundai Elite i20, Volkswagen Polo, Fiat Punto EVO and Tata Bolt. It is expected to be priced in a bracket of Rs. 4.5 - 7 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom).
