Porsche India has launched the 911 facelift at an introductory price of Rs. 1.39 Crores (Ex. Showroom, Maharashtra) in the country. Being christened as the Porsche 991.2, the range comprises of Carrera, Carrera S, Carrera 4, Carrera 4 S, Turbo, Turbo S and their respective Cabriolet derivatives. The sports car comes with a few cosmetic upgrades, while being powered by a new turbocharged engine. Just so you know, the 2017 Porsche Panamera had its world premiere yesterday and it is expected to be launched by mid 2017 in India.
Talking about the cosmetic changes, the Porsche 911.2 flaunts redesigned front bumper and full LED headlamps. The rear-end gets new triple-slat taillamps, which feature signature four-dot design. In addition, there is a new engine cover, while the rear tyres are broader by an inch. Inside the cabin, there is a new touchscreen infotainment system as standard feature. A sports steering wheel, sourced from the 918 Spyder, is being offered as optional feature. As for safety, the sports car gets updated equipments in the form of Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC), and Roll compensation and the Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB). The Porsche 911.2 had its world premiere in December 2015, while the public debut took place at the 2016 Detroit Motor Show.
Porsche 911 Carrera range is powered by a new 3.0L V6 twin-turbocharged engine, which is more fuel efficient and powerful than before. It replaces the preceding model's 3.4L and 3.8L naturally aspirated units. The 911 Carerra now has a maximum power output of 370bhp and peak torque performance of 450Nm, while the Carrera S makes 420bhp and 500Nm. The Carrera S Cabriolet does 0-100kmph sprint in just 4.6 seconds, while clocking a top speed of 290kmph. It is linked to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with power being transferred to the rear wheels. The 911 Turbo range comprises of the same 3.8L turbocharged engine which is retuned to make more power and torque. It now belts out 540bhp and 660Nm with the standard 911 Turbo, while the Turbo S is more powerful with 580bhp and 700Nm.
