Royal Enfield will soon launch a new variant of its popular motorcycle Thunderbird. Named as the Thunderbird 500X, it is expected to come with a host of new features and cosmetic changes. The motorbike has been spied ahead of its launch at a dealership in Belgaum flaunting a stylish design and a sporty look, giving a hint that the new cruiser from Royal Enfield will take away a chunk of Harley Davidson Street 750 sales in the domestic market.
According to the spied images, the motorbike is equipped with alloy wheels with tubeless tyres. The suspension, exhaust and engine are finished in matte black. The rear fender is slightly modified, while the newly designed seat and a much flatter handlebar will offer a relaxed riding posture.
The tail lamp and headlamp units seem to be borrowed from the standard Thunderbird 500 along with LED tail light and LED DRL. However, the pillion backrest has not been provided so as to give a cruiser look to the motorcycle. Both the rear and front wheels are assisted with disc brakes to provide a better braking system.
Coming to the engine and transmission part, the motorbike is equipped with the same 500 cc single cylinder, which is capable of producing a maximum power of 27.2 bhp and a peak torque of 41.3 Nm. The engine comes paired with a five-speed gearbox.
Royal Enfield has finally initiated to give a makeover to its one of the most popular motorbike Thunderbird 500. The Thunderbird 500X will be offered in several new colour schemes such as candy red, electric blue, yellow and white. It is expected that Thunderbird 500X will be launched in January 2018 or it might be showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo which will be held in the month of February. The Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500x is likely to be priced at around Rs 2 lakh.
