Tata Motors has launched the keenly-awaited new Nano Genx in a price range of Rs. 1.99-2.89 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Delhi) in the country. New Tata Nano Genx comes across in five variants - XE, XM, XT, XMA and XMT. As reported before, the small hatch comes with several advancements cosmetically, while the mechanics are retained from the ongoing model, save for the newly-introduced AMT gearbox.

Genx Nano has dethroned Maruti Celerio from the title of India's Cheapest Automatic Car. It has also become the first ever Nano to have a functional tailgate. It has a boot space of 110-litres with the manual variants, while AMT variants offer 95-litres of boot due to the engine cover being positioned higher. Talking about the cosmetic changes, the new Nano flaunts smoked headlamps, all-new 'Smiley' shaped honeycomb grille, restyled front and rear bumpers with an ‘Infinity-motif’ grille design, etc. to name a few. The company has introduced the Genx Nano with two new exterior colors - Sangria Red and Persian Rose. Inside the cabin, the Nano is being available in two color tones - Beige and Black.

As for the safety of the occupants, Tata engineers have incorporated additional strengthening materials in form of improved crumple zone and side impact beams. Hence, the Nano Genx weighs 25 kgs. more than the Nano Twist. It also gets an 3-spoke steering wheel along with new seats. The Electric Power Assisted Steering (EPAS) unit is borrowed from the Zest and Bolt. Mechanically, it is still powered by the same 624 cc twin-cylinder engine, which generates a top power of 37bhp and peak torque of 51Nm. It is linked to both 4-speed manual transmission and a 5-speed AMT gearbox. The fuel efficiency for manual variants is 23.6kmpl, while the automatic variants deliver around 21.9kmpl (Both ARAI Specified).

Below are the variant-wise prices (Ex. Showroom) of the Tata GenX Nano:

Tata GenX Nano XE MT – Rs. 1.99 Lakhs
Tata GenX Nano XM MT – Rs. 2.29 Lakhs
Tata GenX Nano XT MT – Rs. 2.49 Lakhs
Tata GenX Nano XMA AMT – Rs. 2.69 Lakhs
Tata GenX Nano XTA AMT – Rs. 2.89 Lakhs
