The new-gen Toyota Camry will soon be launched in India on 18th January 2019. Apparently, the new Camry was spotted testing in Bangalore recently.
The 8th gen Toyota Camry will get a 2.5 litres, 4 cylinder petrol motor that offers 173 bhp of max power and 221 Nm of peak torque. The hybrid variant will be powered by Toyota Hybrid System II generating 205 bhp peak power. Transmission options include an 8-speed torque converter automatic and a 6 speed CVT with paddle shifter. The Camry Hybrid will get four drive modes of Normal, Eco, EV and Sport while the Auto Glide Control coasting feature will enhance fuel efficiency.
The 2019 Toyota Camry will excel in terms of luxury and technology. Equipped with hybrid powertrain technology, it will be produced in India and will be based on the GA-K architecture which is the same platform on which the Lexus ES300h stands. The sedan will be seen in increased dimensions while wheelbase will be extended by 50mm to now stand at 2,825mm.
External upgrades will be in the form of a new V-shaped grille with sharp headlights and bold crease lines on its sides and a raised boot lid and new tail lights at the rear.
Interiors also get revamped with an 8” touchscreen infotainment system along with a 10” head up colour display and 7” multi-information display positioned within the instrument cluster. Seating will be done up in soft-touch material with cooled seats and electrically reclining backrests. Other onboard features will include a 9 speaker JBL system, automatic climate control and wireless smartphone charging. The list of safety features includes multiple airbags, pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, radar cruise control and lane departure alert.
Prices of the next-gen Toyota Camry are expected to be approx Rs 38 lakhs. In India, it will pit against the Honda Accord Hybrid, Skoda Superb and Volkswagen Passat.
