New Toyota Land Cruiser 200 has been launched in Japan today, and an India launch is slated in the first half of 2016. Being the Japanese automaker's flagship offering, the new Land Cruiser comes with an array of cosmetic changes at the outside, while getting a heap of contemporary and sohpsticated features inside the cabin. Toyota Land Cruiser 200 comes at a starting price of 4,728,437 Japanese Yen, which accounts to around Rs. 25 Lakhs.
As for exterior styling, the new Land Cruiser 200 flaunts LED headlamps and a new three-bar grill. The company says that the working theme behind the redesign of the Land Cruiser 200 was "functional beauty." At the rear end, the license garnish extends across the rear combination lamps, which themselves stretch across the rear door panel to the edge of the vehicle. Additionally, it would be available in two new colors - Copper Brown Mica and Dark Blue Mica, besides the seven regular colors. Inside the cabin, the instrument cluster comprises of 6 LED-backlit meters, while the new SUV now features a 4.2-inch TFT color LCD screen at the centre console.
Toyota Land Cruiser 200 comes loaded with company's Safety Sense P active safety package as standard, and it is the USP of the SUV. Under this new and advanced safety package, the Land Cruiser gets Pre-collision System with pedestrian detection, Radar Cruise Control (with brake control), Lane Departure Alert (LDA), Automatic High Beam (AHB), Blind Spot Monitor, Tire Pressure Warning System, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert system. However, it remains to be seen if the India-spec model gets the Safety Sense P active safety package. Under the hood, the new Land Cruiser gets an updated 4.5L twin-turbo diesel motor, which generates an improved power of 268bhp and peak torque of 650Nm.
Toyota Land Cruiser 200 would be next launched in Australia in October and then, it is expected to make its way to India. Though, the officials have been extremely tight-lipped, but we expect it to grace the Indian roads in and around the first half of 2016. Besides Land Cruiser, Toyota would also launch the 2016 Innova and Fortuner facelift in India next year.
