New Volvo XC90 SUV would be making its Indian debut on May 12, 2015. Volvo Auto India has already started the advance bookings for the second-generation XC90 at a token amount of Rs. 5 Lakhs and the amount is non-refundable. Deliveries are slated to commence from August, while the SUV would be displayed in Volvo India showrooms from July 2015, nationwide. Volvo XC90 would also be showcased to discerning buyers via a special customer preview in the country after the unveiling on 12th May.
Underpinning Volvo's latest SPA (Scalable Platform Architecture) platform, it measures 4950 mm in length, 1923 mm in width and 1776 mm in height. The India-spec model would be launched in two trims - Momentum and Inscription. Both these variants would have LED headlamps as standard feature. The base trim Momentum comes loaded with exquisite feature such as keyless entry, a panoramic sunroof, LED headlights, a 12.3-inch touchscreen display and power-folding third row seats, while top-end trim Inscription grade would have additional features like an air suspension system, a head-up display, heated and ventilated seats and a 19-speaker B&W music system.
The India-spec model of second-generation Volvo XC90 would be powered by a 2.0L 4-cylinder diesel engine which would produce a maximum power of 225 bhp and 470 Nm of peak torque. It would be linked to an 8-speed automatic transmission, while power being transmitted uniformly to all the four wheels. Just so you know, the gear-lever in the XC90 uses crystals by Swedish specialist Orrefors. It is also being reported that the Swedish automaker might also launch the petrol and hybrid variants of the XC90 SUV in the country sometimes later. Second-generation Volvo XC90 would rival the likes of Audi Q7, Mercedes-Benz GL Class, BMW X5 and Land Rover Discovery Sport.
