The next-gen Hyundai Verna sedan has crossed 12,000 bookings in the Indian market, tweeted company brand ambassador and Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan. Exactly a fortnight back, the South-Korean automaker announced that the next-gen Verna has recorded more than 7,000 Bookings with 70,000 enquires since its launch in India on August 22, 2017. The 2017 Hyundai Verna was launched in a price brakcet of Rs. 7.99-12.61 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Delhi), while it sits between the Elantra and Xcent sedans in the company portfolio.

The 2017 Verna sedan is introduced in both petrol and diesel fuel trims with manual and automatic transmissions. It has a total of 12 variants: E MT, EX MT, EX AT, SX MT, SX (O) MT, SX (O) AT, E MT Diesel, EX MT Diesel, EX AT Diesel, SX MT Diesel, SX+ AT Diesel, and SX (O) MT Diesel. The next-gen sedan comes with a plethora of striking elements such as sweptback projector headlamps with LED DRLs, projector foglamps with chrome treatment and Signature Hyundai Cascade grille with chrome surrounds. It rides on 5-spoke 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels with the rear end boasting of split type LED tail lamp cluster, Shark fin antenna and dual tone bumper. The boot capacity is also increased by 30 litres to 480 litres.
Inside the cabin, the sedan debuts several first-in-segment features such as front ventilated seats, smart trunk, smartphone connectivity with IPS panel, FATC with Cluster Ionizer, Electric sunroof, rear AC vents, Voice recognition, Cruise control, Engine Start/Stop button, and Hyundai Auto Link. Mechanically, the 2017 Hyundai Verna is powered by the same set of 1.6L petrol and diesel motors. The smaller 1.4L engine lineup has been phased out; it might get introduced at a later stage. Hyundai India has set a target of delivering of 10,000 units of the new sedan before the auspicious festival of Diwali, which falls on October 19, 2017. The 2017 Verna sedan challenges the likes of Maruti Ciaz, Honda City, Volkswagen Vento and Skoda Rapid in the country.
