The next-generation Kia Sorento SUV test mule has been spotted in South Korea. Spy shots of the SUV have already gone viral on the inter-web, which reveal concrete details about the next-gen Kia Sorento. As for changes, the SUV will receive a new design and get new engine options. Even though the spotted model was heavily camouflaged, it revealed some of the styling elements. In terms of design, expect the next-gen Kia Sorento to sport a more upright and angular semblance.
While new Sorento will take design inspiration from flagship model Kia Telluride, it will continue to feature Kia’s signature ‘Tiger Node’ front grille and black alloy wheels. A hybrid version along with a plug-in hybrid variant is also on cards. It could additionally receive a hydrogen-powered fuel-cell variant as well and a solar panel charging system on the roof. One must note, the above variants will be offered alongside the conventional petrol-diesel powered variants.
Kia had displayed the current-gen Sorento SUV at the Auto Expo 2018 last year in Delhi. The SUV was also showcased at dealer roadshows conducted by Kia in 2017. As for its India launch, even though the model has been spied here couple of times, there is yet no official word from Kia if it will bring the next-gen Sorento to India, which is prepping to spearhead into the Indian market will first launch production-spec SP2i SUV in the country.

Under the hood, expect Kia SP2i to either get a 1.5-litre petrol or 1.5-litre oil burner that will comply with BS IV emission norms at the time of launch, though Kia will upgrade it later to abide with the upcoming BS VI norms. Aimed at the compact SUV segment, the Kia SP2i will compete with top-selling models in the segment including Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier, Nissan Kicks and Renault Captur. The SUV is likely to launch in India sometime later this year.
