The next-gen Mahindra Thar was spotted doing the rounds in Coimbatore past this week. According to the spy pics, the upcoming Thar will have a hard top. With that being said, Mahindra & Mahindra too expected to offer soft-top Thar as optional. This off-roader SUV is more likely to hit the Indian roads at the beginning of 2020.
The upcoming Mahindra Thar appears to be lengthier and wider. This test prototype features an ideal ‘Jeep’ design with which consumers are much familiar. Based on the new platform, the Mahindra Thar Facelift will focus on improving the handling and ride quality as well as its off-road capabilities.

Furthermore, the upcoming Thar will come equipped with new interiors as the spy pics have revealed that the off-roader SUV will have front-facing rear seats along with three-pointer seat belts.
Talking of the next-gen Mahindra Thar specs, it will be powered by a new 2.0-litre diesel mill that will crank out 140 bhp power. The same engine will power the upcoming XUV500 and Scorpio in different tune state. The Thar engine will likely to have a six-speed low-range transmission system with 4X4 drive-train. The SUV will get limited-slip functionalities and differential lock. As per the spy pics, the Thar SUV might receive an automatic gearbox.

The next-gen Mahindra Thar price is likely to be in between INR 7 to 11 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). As a true off-roader vehicle, the upcoming Mahindra Thar will rival against the likes of Force Gurkha Xtreme.
