Maruti Suzuki has finally launched the next-gen Ertiga MPV at a starting price of Rs 7.44 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Delhi) in the country. The new-gen model comes with an array of cosmetic updates and new features while featuring a new petrol engine. It has been introduced in four trim levels in both petrol and diesel fuel trims: L, V, Z and Z+. In addition, a couple of automatic variants are also on offer in the petrol fuel trim in V and Z grades. Being based on the 5th-generation Heartect platform, Maruti Suzuki has invested Rs 900 Crore in the development of this product.
Designed especially for the Indian market, next-gen Maruti Ertiga comes loaded with a plethora of safety features such as dual airbags, high speed warning alert, front seat belt with pre-tensionsers and force limiters, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, ABS with EBD and brake assist and reverse parking sensors as standard fitment across all variants. The cabin is finished in a dual-tone upholstery with a sculpted dashboard in maple wood finish and chrome accents. Other features include projector headlamps, multi-information display with TFT screen, 17.70-cm SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink, multi-function leather-wrapped flat bottom steering wheel, accessory socket in each row, one-touch recline second row and 50:50 split third row with fold and recline function.
2018 Maruti Ertiga comes in both petrol and diesel fuel trims. The petrol variants are powered by the new 1.5L 4-cylinder K15 engine which is 13 percent more powerful and has 6 percent more torque. The engine also boasts of the Smart Hybrid technology with a Lithium ion battery, which helps in delivering the best-in-class mileage of 19.34kmpl and 18.69kmpl with manual and automatic variants, respectively. This engine churns out top power of 103bhp at 6000rpm and peak torque of 138Nm at 4400rpm. The engine is linked to a 5-speed manual transmission while the 4-speed torque converter AT gearbox is also available in VXI and ZXI grades. As for the diesel variants, they are powered by the same 1.3L DDiS engine which develops maximum power of 88.5bhp at 6000rpm and highest torque of 200Nm at 1750rpm. It is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard while it returns a fuel efficiency of 25.47kmpl (ARAI Specified).
