The all-new Maruti Suzuki Ertiga was recently spied doing some test rounds in the country. The homegrown automajor is planning to come with the new model of MPV to Indian market around August 2018. Maruti has been selling the current model since 2012, where in 2015, it had received a mid-cycle update. Codenamed as 'YHA', the new Ertiga will be based on all-new platform and will bigger than the current model as well. The new Heartect platform would make it lighter yet stiffer.
In its first look, the new model seems to be bigger, especially from pillar C and wider than the current model. With its bigger overhang at the rear, there is a noticeable addition of space for the third row seats. Though the recently spotted test mule was heavily wrapped, but still you can notice the steeply raked backglass, giving an additional for more cargo. The interior layout could be sourced from the all-new Swift hatchback that would make its launch at the 2018 Auto Expo, giving a more upmarket and premium feeling.
The next-generation Ertiga is likely to carry the same set of powertrains – 1.4-litre petrol and a 1.3-litre diesel. Though, the is working on a new 1.5-litre diesel unit that could be introduced at later stages. The new Maruti Suzuki Ertiga would pounce with the likes of Mahindra’s U321 MPV that will soon make its launch in the Indian market.
