The next-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift was spotted during pre-production trials and a new set of spy images has emerged that reveals the interior of the model. The 2017 Swift will reportedly sit on the Baleno’s lightweight platform, that makes clear that the kerb weight of the car will be 50 kg lighter than the current model and shedding some weight means, it will come up with an improved fuel efficiency.
Speaking of the interior as seen in the spy shots, the new Swift will get a new design from inside with clean and contemporary looks than its ongoing model. The car features a flat bottom sportier steering wheel with dual-pod instrument dial, a large multi-info display inspired from the premium hatchback Baleno, redesigned centre console, round AC vents. The prototype also features a 2-DIN audio system while the range topping variant will most likely get the company’s SmartPlay touchscreen system.
Speaking of the mechanical-spec, the 2017 Swift will be power packed with a 1.2 four cylinder K-Series petrol engine, while on the other hand, the diesel unit is rumoured to be a newly updated 1.5-litre engine, developed by Maruti’s in-house team in the country. It is also rumoured that the global variant could be introduced combined with an SHVS mild-hybrid system.
