The American automobile legend, Chevrolet has confirmed that the company is all geared up to start development of the next generation Beat/Spark, which will hit sales in 2015. But the next generation Aveo, which was expected to be unveiled along with the Spark, is now confirmed to see the light of day in 2016. The Beat or Spark as known in many other countries, was launched in the year 2009. It was refreshed recently but the brand feels that the hatch is rapidly losing its battle with many other futuristic designed rivals and needs to get back in the game ASAP.
Mr. Choi Jong-hak the official spokesperson of General Motors, quoted that Korea will house the new labor and facility for the Aveo and Spark. With this being said, General Motors has shunned all rumors about the Spark’s production moving to some other country. This official statement was quoted during the annual wage talks, that took place last week.
The Chevrolet company said that the intention was to launch the Spark and Aveo together in 2015. But the plan got changed due to some undisclosed reasons and only the Spark will be unveiled within the early months of 2015. Chevrolet also confirmed that the production factory will not be changed. And the Spark and Aveo will still roll out of North Korea and will be sent overseas to USA, Europe and many other global bazaars. The currently running model of the Spark is still being manufactured in the southeastern city of Changwon, North Korea. However the present Aveo is produced in the company’s H.Q. Located in Bupyeong, Seoul. It is inevitable that the refreshed Spark will wage war against the upcoming Hyundai i15 in the Indian car market. When the new Spark batters the Indian soil, its not erroneous to expect the Beat’s price to be reduced and the existing Spark to be replaced.
