The American carmaker Ford is working on the next generation Figo, which is expected to be launched in the UK by early next year. And there is a possibility that the all new Ford Figo could also be showcased at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo. While in several markets, the all new Figo will come as a replacement to the Ka hatchback; in India it will replace the existing Figo.
Based on the old Fiesta platform, the new generation Figo will use thin, high-standard steel to make it a light weight city car platform. The Fiesta's platform has been shortened to make it a small hatchback compatible one. Under the hood will be the 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine in both naturally aspirated and turbo forms. Other than the 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine, the Figo will continue to come in both 1.2-litre petrol and 1.4-litre diesel guises.
Ford Figo is the company's flagship product in India, which before the launch of EcoSport was the company's top-seller. Now when the competition is getting stiffer with each passing day, it has become important for Ford to bring in the all new Figo, so to not let its competitors take the advantage.
Major changes that we expect to see on the next generation Figo will be in terms of design. It is likely to get an all new design, making it look much sportier than before.
