Next-generation Hyundai i20 Spotted on Test

Snapshot: Hyundai has been testing the next-generation i20 on European roads

The next-generation i20 recently got spotted while being tested on European roads. The new model is rumored to make its debut at Paris Motor Show this year, however, the company has not confirmed the schedule till now. Being a test mule, the car was heavily camouflaged revealing new design language only with few uncovered body parts like rear-end and interiors.

What is evident in the images that the new Korean hatch has taken a major step ahead in its design language compared to its current model. Dimensionally, the car looks bold and big, similar to its current version but the tail lamps have a new shape to them as does the boot-lid – all designed to make the car look trimmer. The side styling is considerably revised with sharply crafted door outlines and a lowered roof to give a coupe-like stance to the new car.

The interiors are similarly revised with a redesigned dashboard and other elements and it goes without saying that the new model will be heavy in terms of features and specifications, true to the Hyundai belief. The new Hyundai i20 would continue to be powered with 1.2-litre and 1.4-litre petrol, while the 1.4-litre CRDI engine will continue to do duty under the hood of diesel variants. We can expect the new i20 to enter the Indian market later this year.
