Japanese car manufacturer, Nissan appointed Dr Lavanya Wadgaonkar as Regional Communications Vice President, Asia and Oceania (A&O) for the Nissan Motor Asia Pacific (NMAP) effective June 2016. Previously, Dr. Wadgaonkar was associated with Nissan Motor India as Vice President of Communications and CSR and now will be transferred to NMAP that is based in Bangkok, Thailand.
Talking about the appointment of Dr. Lavanya Wadgaonkar, Guillaume Sicard, President – Nissan India Operations said, “Lavanya has been a strong leadership pillar within Nissan India over her four year tenure here. Her wealth of experience in communications from brand management, public affairs, and reputational risk management, has helped strengthen the reputation of the company as well as its brands. I would like to thank her for her many contributions and wish her the best for the future.”
Further, he added, “Lavanya’s appointment also signifies the opportunities for Indian talent within Nissan Motor Corporation. Her shift to a global leadership role stands as a testimony to our truly diversified workforce across the globe. I also take pleasure in welcoming Deepa in her new role and wish her all the best.”
Dr. Wadgaonkar’s role is to lead A&O communications and focus on strengthening the reputation of the company and its brands through maximizing Nissan’s presence in Asia and Oceania markets. Additionally, she will drive internal communication strategies across the A&O region to support employee engagement and will be reporting dually to Regional Senior Vice President and Head of Operating Committee A&O region, Yutaka Sanada and Nissan Motor Company Ltd., Chief Communications Officer, Jonathan Adashek.
Ms. Deepa Thomas has joined the company as Vice President, Communications and CSR in April 2016, now leads the Nissan India Communications function.
