Japanese automaker Nissan has unveiled the virtual Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo vehicle that has been designed for the hugely popular racing game on Sony’s PlayStation. The 2+2 sports car celebrates the 15th anniversary of the Gran Turismo driving franchise and also previews, the future Nissan GT-R. The all-new Concept 2020 Vision GT supercar will join the pantheon of 148 different Nissan cars that have featured in the Gran Turismo video game series over the years.
“The Nissan Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo is a vision of what a high-performance Nissan could look like in the future,” claims Nissan. “It was created through close collaboration with the creators of Gran Turismo, Polyphony Digital Inc, the legendary PlayStation driving franchise.”
The creator of the game, Kazunori Yamauchi had asked design studios across the globe to come up with a concept using the theme, “Vision Gran Turismo” to celebrate the racing sim’s 15th anniversary, and one among them was the Nissan Design Europe, who created the Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo. Like other Vision Gran Turismo concepts, such as those from BMW, Mercedes Benz, Toyota and Volkswagen, the Concept 2020 will be available on download in Gran Turisimo 6 next month.
Moreover, the design of the Nissan 2020 Vision Gran Turismo was considered to have much more potential and was therefore, looked closely by an advanced engineering team based at Nissan’s technical centre in Atsugi, Japan. As a result, the Japanese automaker has dropped hints that the concept previews the future performance car coming out of Nissan, which is most likely to be the next-generation GT-R.
Nissan Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo supercar will be available for download from 6th July 2014.
