Forget about how Nissan is doing in India, for Nissan has trumped Hyundai and Honda to become the number one Asian seller in the European nations. Yes, you read it right! Nissan is the number one car manufacturer from Asia to sell cars in the European Union. Nissan achieved this feat by trumping Hyundai and Toyota as the number one seller.

Apparently, Toyota, from Japan is the number one car manufacturer across the globe and Nissan is not even in the top three spots. According to the latest numbers, Nissan sold close to 3 lakh units (294,140 precisely) in the first half of 2015 from January to June. The Japanese manufacturer saw a growth of 4.3% as compared to the same period in the previous year.

Nissan holds a 4.2% of market share in the European market right now. Nissan Qashqai SUV and Nissan LEAF EV are given credit for the surge in the sale as both these products received good response in the EU. New car registration increased considerably in the UK - 34%, making it the most successful year for the company in the Great Britain.

Nissan Europe Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Guillaume Cartier said, "What we are doing with our brand, our products and our customer service promise is clearly working. We are delighted customers have continued to put their trust in Nissan to make us the number one selling Asian brand in Europe. We will continue to challenge ourselves to bring more to our customers - more choice, more value and more innovations and exciting products"

Nissan is positive to have a successful second half too, as the sales in the European countries is increasing, including countries like Italy and France. In fact, sales increased in Spain by 18% and in Germany by 11% as compared to Toyota and Hyundai. The European sales figures are excluding countries like Russia and Ukraine, where Toyota still holds the dominance.

Ironically, Nissan is not doing that great in India and is struggling hard along with its alliance company Renault to set a strong foothold in the country. Nissan currently sells Micra, Sunny, Terrano cars in India and only the Terrano sells some good number here. Nissan in the future is contemplating the option to launch the Patrol SUV and the Leaf EV.
