Nissan India has released the first sketches of the Kicks compact SUV ahead of its launch in the country. The official design sketches shed some light on the styling and appearance of the keenly-awaited SUV. Various reports have indicated that the Japanese automaker could launch Kicks SUV in January 2019, while the prices may start at Rs 10 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom). Nissan Kicks would take on the likes of Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki S-Cross and Renault Captur in the Indian market.
The India-bound model of Kicks SUV would be bigger than the international model in terms of dimensions. The biggest disparity comes in form of the architecture as the India-spec model will be based on Renault Duster's and Nissan Terrano's B0/Logan platform instead of the global V platform. Going by the teaser images, the SUV will flaunt LED headlamps with a blue accent and a raised eyebrow-like outer-end. The front bumpers will comprise of huge pockets, while it would have the Nissan's signature V-motion front grille. The rear end would have sleek tail-lamps while the “kick” in the rear door quarter-light and 17-inch alloy wheels sums up the side profile.
The cabin will boast of several premium features like full-colour 7-inch driver information display, floating 7-inch touchscreen display, D-shaped steering wheel, Zero Gravity front seats and seven airbags. The Kicks would be available in both petrol and diesel fuel trims with the same engines as Duster. The petrol variants could be powered by the 1.5L H4K engine while the diesel variants might get the 1.5L K9K engine. The former could be offered with a 5-speed manual or a CVT gearbox while the latter could get a 6-speed manual transmission as standard. Nissan Kicks doesn't come with an AWD system even in the global markets, so we don't expect it to be available here either.
