Nissan Motor Company would unveil the Sway Concept Car at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show on March 3. According to the company, "Sway is a glimpse at how a future generation of small Nissan models could look if the company's striking new design language was applied to a European hatchback." The Sway concept hints of the European model of the next-generation Micra hatchback which would be out in 2016.
The Sway concept didn't have any connection with the Indian model of Micra as Nissan India uses a different platform for the Indian version of Micra. Nissan's B-Segment hatchback Micra's new-generation would take its designing cues from the Sway concept. It is expected to be a new exciting styling language, contrary to current generation which has faced public ire and criticism over its dull styling. The company further adds, "Innovative design and product planning" which gave birth to Nissan Qashqai and Juke would also be applied to the new Sway concept. In most likelihood, Euro-spec next-gen Nissan Micra would be underpinning the modern CMF platform.
Once, the next-gen Micra is out, Nissan would stop the export of this small car from its Renault-Nissan Alliance plant in Chennai, India to other nations. Nissan would manufacture the European Micra at Renault’s Flins plant. The future Micra for India will stick to the V-Platform when it graduates to the next generation. Nissan India is also contemplating makeover for the Indian version of Micra owing to its not-so-satisfactory sales figures.
