The Japanese car maker Nissan has started a campaign for its upcoming Terrano AMT SUV, the company has launched a teaser video recently which has kickstarted the campaign.

However the teasers released by the Japanese company has not revealed any details about the upcoming Terrano AMT but according to recent reports the Nissan Terrano will also get a mild-facelift in the AMT avatar. The changes in the Terrano facelift is likely to be limited to some visual modifications such as restyled front end with redesigned bumpers and grille. The new avatar of the Terrano is also expected to include features such as touchscreen ICE system.

The Terrano AMT is in the news since the launch of the Duster AMT. The Terrano is expected to come with the same 6-speed AMT gearbox just like the Renault Duster. The Nissan Terrano SUV was launched back in the late 2013 and it received good initial response among customers, with high sales volume. But with the launch of better value for money SUVs, the sales of the Terrano dropped drastically. Now Nissan has launched its hatchback with an automatic transmission option and is reportedly working on developing an AMT gearbox for the Terrano.

The teaser video provides a description of give that left leg a rest and wants to change the way you shift. The Japanese SUV currently comes with two engine options of 1.6-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines respectively. The petrol engine produces 102bhp of power and 145Nm of torque, the diesel variants come with the choice of two state of tunes and they are 84bhp/200Nm and 108bhp/248Nm. The Terrano is now offered in four variants, however which one would get the AMT transmission is not known yet.

The AMT is gaining popularity among Indian masses as it is consuming less fuel than the conventional automatic gearbox. Nissan is all geared up to take back its lost ground in the Compact SUV segment with its AMT equipped Terrano.
