Nissan India has now finally launched the much anticipated Nissan Terrano SUV at a starting price of Rs 9.59 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Originally a Nissan's version of the popular Renault Duster, the Terrano costs about Rs 50,000 higher than the Duster. Rolled out in total 7 variants, Nissan Terrano has six diesel and one petrol variant in its line-up.
Just like Renault Duster, the Terrano too has been made available with three engine options- a 1.5-litre 85PS diesel, a 1.5-litre 110PS diesel and a 1.6-litre 104PS Petrol. While the 1.5-litre 85PS diesel and 1.6-litre petrol engine powered variants are offered with a five-speed manual gearbox, the 1.5-litre 110PS diesel variant comes mated to a six-speed manual transmission.
So in terms of technicalities, both the Terrano and Duster are same, it's just the design that has been re-worked upon. Front fascia is the one major area which has gone through an extensive up-gradation with revamped bumper, new headlights, honeycomb grille and a big Nissan badge. The rear profile too is different with a split light arrangement, in which part of the lights have been given on to the bootlid.
There are no changes to the interior as well; it looks all similar to that of the Duster. However, the Terrano being a much costlier offering has a new music system and differently designed central AC vents. Also, almost all the variants except the XE base, has features like driver side airbag, ABS, EBD and Brake Assist as standard. The top-end Terrano XV Premium 110PS gets features like two airbags, leather seats, rear parking sensor, leather wrapped steering wheel and gear-knob.
