We guess you all have forgotten about the teaser image Nissan sent out indicating the launch of a new SUV/Compact SUV! Well, as promised, Nissan has unveiled the SUV or rather compact SUV at the Sao Paulo motorshow and it's called the Kicks concept. One look at the car and you will say that it is a brilliant looking vehicle and if launched in the same avatar as showcased in the concept or with minor changes, it will definitely stand out of the crowd.
But, the looks also reminds us of another car. Nissan and Renualt are global strategic partners and their work in alliance when developing any new vehicle can be seen from the vehicles they launch. And now it seems like they have done it again with the unveiling of the Kicks Concept. We couldn't stop imagining Renault Koleos when we first saw this concept, but it is an eye pleaser to say the least.
Designed under the leadership of Nissan’s Global Design Center in Japan, apart from input from two teams – Nissan Design America (NDA) in San Diego, US, and Nissan Design America Rio (NDA-R), they also collaborated with the satellite design studio recently opened in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, giving out a hint that the compact SUV will be Brazil specific for now.
“It’s fun to drive, but at the same time, a serious vehicle. It is designed to have the appearance of a striking premium car that captivates the look and to be a vehicle whose owners would be proud to own and drive,” explains Shiro Nakamura, vice president of Nissan’s global design department.
As was seen in the teaser image, the looks of the Kicks clearly shows the aggression in bodywork and a tall boy stance. The chunky and signature V grille upfront beautifully gels with the horizontal LED headlights and flared fenders. The compact SUV will also sport a floating roof and boomerang-shaped tail lamps at the back.
