Homegrown cab aggregator service Ola has now made it even easier to book a cab even when you don’t have an active data connection in your phone. The app’s new offline feature allows users to book cabs for those who have slow internet connectivity or do not have any access to data connection.
To book a cab offline you need to have the Ola app installed on your phone. When you open the app without any internet connection it would give you two options, either you could try again with a working internet connectivity or book an OLA through SMS. On choosing the latter option, the app would redirect you to your messaging app, where you will be asked to send a message to a particular number. You need to send the SMS to that number and wait for a few minutes. After the wait, you would receive an SMS with the details of all available cabs near you, which would include the Prime, Micro and Mini category. After making a decision, you need to reply wit the cab number you would like to get a ride on. Within a few minutes, you will get a reply from OLA regarding the details of your booked cab. The driver of the cab will also receive your details like your location and other necessary details so that he can reach you.
OLA is looking forward to having more users in its portfolio for which they have started various new features such as the offline cab booking. The offline cab booking feature would be available in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Chennai for the time being. It would roll out the feature slowly to other 102 cities where OLA operates. However, you cannot book shared rides, auto rickshaws, shuttles, outstation and rental rides by using this feature.
