Norton Motorcycles and Motoroyale have launched the Norton Commando 961 Café Racer in Indian market at a price tag of Rs, 23 lakh. The retro-styled motorcycle will be sold as a CBU (Completely Built Unit) and interested customers can book the model at a price of Rs. 11.5 lakh. The Norton Commando 961 comes with a waiting period of 2-3 months.

The retro-styled motorcycle comes with an old school charm thanks to its round shaped headlamp, a short wind deflector and typical café racer appearance. The clip-on handlebars, twin-pod instrument cluster, a sculpted looking fuel tank with knee recesses, retro-themed leather seat, narrow tail section and integrated taillight are the other design elements visible in this motorcycle. It also boasts twin stainless steel exhausts.

The Norton Commando 961 runs on multispoke wheels wrapped with meaty rubbers. Suspension duty in this model is done by 43 mm Ohlins upside down front fork and adjustable Ohlins twin-shock absorbers at the back. For braking duty, it relies on twin 320 mm front disc brakes and a single 220 mm rear disc brake. There is a dual-channel ABS for the model, but that comes as an option. Initially, it is available only in a silver colour option, but more colours could be added later.

Power source for the Norton Commando 961 is a 961 cc parallel-twin, oil-cooled engine coupled with a 5-speed transmission. This engine is capable of churning out 79 bhp of peak power at 6,500 rpm and 90 Nm of peak torque at 5,200 rpm.
