The Tiago-based compact has been finalised by Tata Motors and might be branded with the name Viago or Altigo. The car was first displayed in the 2016 Auto Expo under the codename of Kite 5. The car was supposed to make an entry in the market in the later half of this year itself, but now has been postponed to mid-2017. The car had been rumoured to have several other names like Sway, Canvas, Dribble, Ingrid, Zica, etc,. It will fall right behind the Tata Zest.
The Tiago-based car will measure 3,995mm length-wise, will have a height of 1,535mm and a width of 1,647 along with a 2,450mm wheelbase. The exterior will comprise of dual chamber headlamps, tail lamps made of LED and strong shoulder lines.
The interior will feature a touchscreen infotainment system of 5-inch and will support USB, aux and Bluetooth as well as as a sound system of six-speakers. Safety will be taken care of by dual airbags, corner stability control (CSC), anti-lock braking system (ABS) combined with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD).
Giving life to the car will be a three-cylinder petrol of 1.2-litre churning power of 83.8bhp at 6,000rpm and 114Nm of torque at 3,500rpm. The diesel variant will be getting a 1.5-litre three-cylinder motor that will be borrowed from the Tiago. It will produce 69bhp of power and 140Nm of torque. The engines will have multi-drive modes — Eco and City.
