Hyundai India have confirmed that the company will commercially launch its all-new Xcent sedan in the Indian market on the 12th of March in an event that is slated to get underway in the capital. The compact sedan based on the Grand i10 hatchback was first presented to the public at the recently concluded 2014 Delhi Motor Show.
The sub 4-metre Hyundai Xcent shares a lot of similarities with its younger sibling, the Grand i10 in terms of design and styling. The sedan is also expected to come loaded with features such as rear AC vents, smart key push button entry, USB-ready audio system with internal storage, 15-inch alloys, dual front airbags, anti-lock brakes and steering-mounted audio controls.
Xcent will be offered in both petrol and diesel variants in India. The petrol variant of the car comes with the same 1.2-litre kappa 2 motor, which powers the Grand i10 hatchback and the diesel model is powered by 1.1-litre diesel engine. These engines will come mated to a 5 speed manual transmission.
We reckon the Hyundai Xcent will come at a very competitive sticker price ranging between Rs 4.99 lakh and Rs 8.49 lakh, considering it is a sub 4-metre sedan and hence, enjoys excise duty reduction. As always is the case with Hyundai cars, we expect to see at least a dozen variants of the Xcent sedan across four variants, Era, Magna, Sportz and Asta. The Hyundai Xcent will compete with the likes of Honda Amaze and the Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire in the Indian market.
