BS6 Skoda Rapid getting ready for a launch in April 2020.
The likely price of the BS6 Skoda Rapid will be around Rs 9 lakhs.
With the compliance to BS-VI norms closing near, Skoda has announced that it will be launching the BS-VI compliant Skoda Rapid by April 2020. The company has also stated that the BS6 Skoda Rapid price could be in the range of Rs 9 lakhs.
The Director of Sales, Service, and Marketing of Skoda Auto India, Zac Hollis, stated this fact while making the announcement.
Reports indicate that the Skoda Rapid could get further additions apart from the upgrade to the BS-VI compliant engine.
As on date, the Skoda Rapid runs on BS-IV compliant engines. Two variants are available in the Skoda Rapid today.
1.5L MPI naturally-aspirated 4-cylinder petrol engine delivering a power of 105ps and torque of 153Nm.
1.5L TDI turbocharged 4-cylinder diesel motor producing power and torque of 110ps and 250Nm respectively.
The standard mode of transmission is a 5-speed manual gearbox. However, there are options to choose the 6-speed AT in the petrol and 7-speed DCT with the diesel variant.
The BS6 Skoda Rapid will lose both engines because of the upgrade. It will now feature a 1L TSI turbocharged 3-cylinder petrol engine capable of producing a power of 115ps and torque of 200Nm. This engine will be a common factor across all Volkswagen and Skoda brands as part of the Volkswagen Group India 2.0 Project.
This engine presently comes with different transmission options like
5-speed manual,
6-speed manual, and
7-speed DCT automatic.
However, the BS6 Rapid will come equipped with either the 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT options.
Skoda is offering exciting year-end discounts as part of its stock clearance attempts of the BSIV versions of the sedan. The BS6 Skoda Rapid could come with a pricing of around Rs 9 lakhs.
