Chevrolet India has made it official that it would launch the Trailblazer SUV in 2015 in the country. Recently, it was learnt that Chevrolet Trailblazer was brought into India for Research & Development purposes; but now as confirmed by GM, it would make its Indian début this year. This news of the launch was told to GM India dealers in the annual meeting held in Bangkok on February 13.
Being showcased at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo, it would be rivalling the Toyota Fortuner, Hyundai Santa Fe, and Ford Endeavour in the country. The company could be sold via CBU or CKD route; though, nothing is confirmed yet. General Motors recently launched the Trailblazer SUV in Thailand with a couple of diesel engines. The SUV is being offered with a 2.5L inline diesel engine which generates a maximum power of 163bhp and peak torque of 380Nm. The range-topping variants come loaded with 2.8L inline diesel mill which is good enough for 200bhp of top power and 500Nm of highest torque. The top-end variants, with 2.8L diesel motor, is available with 6-speed automatic transmission and 4WD system. The entry-level and mid variants, along with the 2.5L engine, gets a 6-speed manual gearbox and 2WD system.
Talking about the dimensions, General Motor Trailblazer measures 4878mm in length, 1902mm in width, and 1838mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2845mm, while offering a ground clearance of 241mm. The 7-seater SUV flaunts 16-inch and 18-inch alloy wheels, while having a three-row seating configuration. As for the safety of the occupants, Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV boasts several exquisite features such as dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear disc brakes, TCS, Cornering Brake Control, ESC, Hill start assist and hill descent control.
