Ford India has aggressively slashed the prices of its mid-size sedan, Classic, in India. The Classic now starts from Rs. 4.99 lakhs and goes upto Rs. 7.59 lakhs for the top-end diesel variant. The American automaker is trying to boost its presence in the mid-size sedan segment since a long-time now. The Classic, earlier known as Fiesta, undoubtedly gave a strong foothold to the company in the saloon segment in the country, but company has failed to gather the same success with its successor model.
With revised prices, the Ford Classic now became a value for money product in the mid-size segments. The company has been offering the Classic in three different variants- LXi, CLXi and Titanium for each diesel and petrol engine option. The base LXi petrol powered Classic is priced at Rs. 4.99 lakhs which comes with bare features like all-four power windows, tilt-adjustable power steering, power boot release and basic aesthetic like body colored bumpers. While, the top of the line Titanium model is loaded with premium features like alloy wheels, electric ORVMs, rear defogger, rear seat handrest and a bit of chrome touchups around.
The Ford Classic has always been known for its ideal driving dynamics, satisfactory performance and adequate amount of interior space and features. The company is expecting surge in its sales with the decreased price and arguably, Classic is the only sedan in Indian market that starts with the price range of five lakhs. In actual fact, Ford cars in India are not attaining good sales numbers in their respective segments, except the company's foremost product, the EcoSport. However, the company is working on strengthening its portfolio and, Interestingly, a global debut is due to happen on the 3rd of next month from the blue oval family.
