It is no news that Ford India’s most successful global product, the EcoSport urban crossover has gathered a ridiculous amount of fame and sales numbers in the country. So much so, that the waiting period on some of the variants of the EcoSport had gone up to twelve months as recorded in January 2014. The company then, was compelled to close the bookings of the EcoSport so as to be able to clear the backlog on the registrations. The company dealers had even started requesting customers who had booked the EcoSport to either cancel the booking or to opt for another Ford model.
Today however, Ford India has officially resumed the bookings for its hugely popular EcoSport crossover. Dealers throughout the country will now accept registrations for all the variants of the EcoSport. “With 50,000 EcoSports delivered, we have significantly reduced the waiting period and are pleased to extent the opportunity to book the Ford EcoSport to more customers.” Mr Vinay Piparsania, executive director of Marketing, Sales & Service at Ford India said.
The Ford EcoSport SUV that was launched in India in late 2013, has become a runaway success in the SUV-frenzied Indian market. The model is offered in the country with a choice of three engine options: two petrol and one diesel. Powering the base petrol is a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder engine that is rated at 112PS and 140Nm of peak torque and comes mated to either a 5-Speed manual or a 6-Speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The new 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine is able to churn out a healthy 125PS of max power and 170Nm of peak torque and comes mated to a 5-Speed manual gearbox. The diesel variants on the other hand, are powered by a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder unit that is rated at 91PS and 204Nm. The diesel engine is coupled to a 5-Speed manual gearbox.
Ford India reportedly, has also started offering the ‘Signature’ LED daytime running lights as an optional feature across all the variants of the EcoSport.
