Snapshot: Kawasaki bringing Versys 1000 soon, Booking Open!
We reported just a last week that Kawasaki might just further strengthen its stronghold in the premium niche bike segment in the country by bringing the 2015 Kawasaki Versys 1000. Recently unveiled at INTERMOT 2014 the bike fits perfectly to the Indian conditions.
Reports are coming in suggesting that, the 2015 Versys 1000 which world premiered in September is priced at INR 12.90 lakhs (ex-showroom, Pune). The official launch will happen at a later date and first deliveries will commence in January 2015. The litre-class adventure tourer has a booking amount of INR 5-6 lakhs. The 2015 Versys 1000 (stands for Versatile System) features a completely revamped front fairing with dual-headlamps, improved aerodynamics and wind protection. Technically, the latest iteration gets an improved long-travel suspension and new 17-inch alloy wheels. Kawasaki is flying high after the launches of their Z1000, Z800, Z250 and ER-6n in past few months. We expect that this product onslaught will continue a Kawasaki has got some fairly incredible products in its international portfolio that may suit our conditions perfectly.
The inline four cylinder, liquid cooled 1,043 cc engine produces 118PS of power at 9,000 rpm and 102 Nm of torque at 7,700 rpm. In comparison to the Z1000, the engine provides for strong low and mid-range torque and smooth power delivery. The chassis has been designed to have sporty dynamics thanks to its lightweight aluminium tube frame and uses the engine as a stressed member. Offering a firm and planted feeling, good stability, light and nimble turning abilities. Versys comes with a large 21L fuel tank and according to company claims, it provides a range of 400kms in a full tank. It also has an economical ride indicator and features KTRC, Kawasaki’s version of traction control which has 3 modes.
Looking at how things are going at Kawasaki's India operations, we are certainly expecting the 2015 Kawasaki Versys 650 to arrive soon too and we are very sure, that the Versys 650 if priced well might just be the best motorcycle for the country. the 2015 Kawasaki Versys 650 ABS, a junior version powered by the very pleasant 650cc parallel-twin. For 2015, the engine has gained a little power. It now has a claimed 69 horsepower, and it has been tuned for enhanced torque delivery and tractability.
The Kawasaki Versys 650 ABS has undergone what I would call a general upgrade, and it has been made more comfortable with a larger fairing and windscreen, revised rubber mounts for the engine, handlebar and pegs, plus the inverted 41mm long-travel fork and a new remotely adjustable shock absorber. ABS is also available.
