The Japanese automotive giant Nissan has revealed its new SUV (Sporty utility vehicle) in the Indian Markets. The car labeled as Terrrano is the fourth vehicle of Nissan made locally. Other cars include Sunny, Micra, and Evalia. The car was developed in the Chennai plant Oragadam.
The car is expected to be launched in the month of October this year. Terrano will the fourth generation car, as the brand was released globally during 1986. The advance booking of Terrano will commence in the month of September from day 1. The cost of the vehicle was officially announced by Nissan President Kenichiro Yamura during the event and it is priced at Rs. 10 lakh onwards.
Nissan Terrano looks like the inspired version of Renault Duster. It uses a 1 liter diesel powered engine with both automatic and manual transmissions. The exterior of the car in the front and back are made muscular in contrary to Duster. The sales of Nissan Terrano will form a major contribution of sales volume of the company in India. The export of the car will be based on the popularity of the car in Indian markets and market opportunities. But the product is mainly designed and manufactured for the Indian market.
The car will visage competition from the other manufacturers like Ford Ecosport, and Renault Duster. Both the companies have made their stance in the market. Nissan had previously had given a statement of launching 10 new car models in India by 2016 and it will be awaited. The company has around 100 dealers across India and has targets of reaching 300 by the year 2016.
