The home-grown automajor Tata Motors has now officially announced to launch the power steering equipped Tata Nano 'Twist' at the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA), Mumbai on January 13th, 2014. With an aim to solve the heavy steering issue of the existing Nano and improve their sales statistics, Tata has decided to bring a ZF electric power steering boosted Nano Twist, under their new Horizonext strategy.
The new power steering is remarkably effective and lightweight, which is sourced from ZF - a German automotive component manufacturer. Configured with advanced technology, the Nano Twist will deliver utmost safety and comfort. The new power steering won’t require much effort while turning or parking the car that makes it quite user-friendly for women drivers and beginners.
There are no mechanical changes made to the car, so Nano Twist too will continue to power the current 0.6-litre 624cc, twin cylinder petrol engine. This powertrain delivers a maximum power output of 37.4bhp with a peak torque of 51Nm. The hatchback will be offered with a four speed manual transmission option only. The Nano Twist is expected to be marginally more expensive (approx. Rs.15, 000) than the non-power steering version. The existing model of Nano is available in three trims STD, CX and LX, priced at Rs. 1.50 lakh, Rs.1.98 lakh and Rs.2.23 lakh, respectively.
