Tata Motors has officially commenced the bookings of Harrier SUV at a token amount of Rs 30,000 in the country. Slated to launch in early 2019, Tata Harrier can be booked on www.tataharrier.com or at the nearest Tata Motors authorized dealership. According to an AutoCar India report, it will be priced in a range of Rs 14-18 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom). The SUV is based on the revolutionary OMEGA architecture, which is derived from Land Rover’s legendary D8 platform on which over 1 million SUVs have been sold worldwide.
According to Mr. Mayank Pareek, President, Passenger Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors -“Since its showcase as a concept at the Auto Expo 2018, the HARRIER has made huge waves amongst the SUV lovers. With the rising excitement and consistent demand from our discerning customers to book the HARRIER at the earliest and be amongst the early ones to receive deliveries, we have taken a conscious decision to open bookings in the festive season. With Turnaround 2.0, we have already begun our journey towards winning sustainably in the passenger vehicle business and we are confident that with the introduction of this new class leading SUV, we will only soar higher.” Tata Motors has tested this 5-seater monocoque SUV extensively for a cumulative distance of 2.2 million kms.
The rumormill is abuzz that Tata Motors will showcase the production-ready Harrier next month in Indian market. However, prior to that, it has been leaked online, courtesy Team-BHP. The SUV will be the first product to sport the Impact 2.0 Design language from Tata Motors. Being a 5-seater SUV and rivaling the likes of Hyundai Creta and Jeep Compass, Tata Harrier will be powered by the 2.0L KRYOTEC diesel engine which is said to deliver top power of 140 bhp. The SUV will be offered with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard while a Hyundai-sourced 6-speed automatic gearbox could be available as option in top-end trims. The possibilities of introduction of a AWD system can't be ruled out either.
